A House of Hope

Hillsborough House of Hope provides a temporary residence for women who have been incarcerated in the Hillsborough County Jail. The home provides a safe and supportive environment for women while they locate a permanent residence and get a job.

In this Christian Residential Program three women are under supervision of a house manager and Program Manager. They live and learn in a program that can be tailored to each resident. Each woman has her own room and helps with the cleaning and meal preparation. They share their dreams and hopes with each other in Bible Study, devotions and chats on the porch.

"With love and support offered here, the changes and growth in these women is tremendous. Because of the gifts and support of so many individuals and organizations, these women have hope that they can make it on their own, and their lives are being changed."

“I’ve been in love with Mrs. Margaret Palmer and her husband Tom since that day I laid eyes on them. Look up people of prayer sent from God and you will find their names first. I remember when Ms. Margaret first proposed this idea out loud. I knew if anyone in the world could make this happen, SHE could, and with God’s help along with the people He sent alongside her, Hillsborough House of Hope became a viable entity in our community. The women that are served and nourished there show their gratitude by helping each other and striving to become active, productive and health both physically and spiritually. This is NOT a half-way house, but a home for holistic mediation preparing God’s women for Godly living. It’s truly the house that GOD’S MERCY built.”

“It is an honor for us to volunteer at Hillsborough House of Hope, being partakers of a ministry that is a “Doer” and not a hearer only of the spoken Word of God.”

“In the three years I’ve spent time volunteering at the House of Hope, I’ve been inspired by the strength of character I see that women experience during their stay. They arrive simply with the clothes they are wearing and the hope for a new and better life. The loving boundaries set for them give them the freedom to make wise choices. They are affirmed of their dignity and purpose to be the women of grace, beauty and strength God designed them to be. It is a joy to share my time and learn from these women who are challenged each day to live a better life.
